Downtown’s Music Center is home to two of the city’s leading theaters – Mark Taper Forum and Ahmanson Theatre. If you are willing to gamble on availability a few hours before the show starts, then you can try telephoning the box office direct. Many places offer last minute “rush” discounts on unsold seats for performances.
Students who hold a valid ISIC card may be able to get discounts to some concerts and plays. The best spots to try are those affiliated with Los Angeles’s universities, such as UCLA’s Geffen Playhouse.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosts concerts of jazz and chamber music on Fridays and Sundays in the museum plaza.
